Trip Details

Where did you go? Koh Tao is actually a very small island and regardless of which beach you stay by, you can easily get to the other beaches in less than 15 minutes. Generally speaking, most of the higher end resorts are located by Sairee Beach, Chalok Baan Kao Beach and Mae Haad Beach. I stayed at a scenic and tranquil resort nestled in a private area next to Chalok Baan Kao village at the South of Koh Tao. Within 10 minutes from the Koh Tao pier.

How was the weather? Weather was nice, high 70s, low 80s.

How’d you get there? Flew into Koh Samui via Thai Air and then hopped on a Lomprayah ferry boat which wisked you to your destination in 4 hours.

Your new favorite saying? Sawatdee - Hello

What did you do? The snorkeling and diving here is actually out of this world. Out of all the virtual places we’ve been, this has the most bad ass sea life. Koh Tao is known for its turtles and swimming with these turtles took up most of our days.

What local foods did you eat? Kaeng Phed Ped Yang, which is roasted duck in red curry and all the fresh spicy seafood you can eat!

How much did this trip set you back? Less than $100 per night at the Chintakiri Resort ain’t bad! And flights from NYC were about $1k per head ... This nice little excursion set you back about $4k for the two of you!

Something you can tell your friends: If you’re looking for huge gamefish on a budget, this is your place. And a cool fact is that this island was a political prison in the early 1900’s.
